new logo, new look

blog No Comments

It’s been another long overdue effort, but I have finally finished the last tweaks to the look of the website; along with a new logo and color scheme I wanted to tone down the hues and simplify the overall aesthetic. I felt it became a bit distracting having so many different shades of green!

the unscripted portrait

Eight months.

The same time your hair would grow about 4 1/2 inches. It’s been eight long and lazy months since I’ve written anything in here; something I really need to fix.

It’s not that I’ve neglected shooting; I’ve been shooting portraits and New York cityscapes during the entire blog hiatus, and I wanted to retort over my most recent joy.

Magazine-featured.

Yes, li’l old me, written up in a reputable photography rag; Digital Photography Magazine.

This sublime highpoint in my photography career has humbled and inspired me; what an astonishing compliment.

london in 1880

I came across these incredible photos of London in 1880; haunting to say the least. The streets look like a movie set for a Jack The Ripper flick.

world’s fair pavillion

architecture, landscape 1 Comment

If you’ve ever driven by Shea Stadium then you’ve likely seen those strange looking towers and pointed – “Hey! Those are the UFOs from ‘Men in Black!’ So cool.”

They’re actually part of the old 1964 World’s Fair Pavillion which consists of the 140 foot Unisphere, the 100 foot high elliptical plaza, and of course the 90, 185, and 250 foot tall observation towers. The structures are in ruin today, and sit quietly adorning the side streets of the Grand Central Parkway and Long Island Expressway.

best noodles in town?

food, new york city No Comments

By far the best noodles I’ve tasted are the organic hand pulled ones served up at Hung Ry.

I took two friends there for lunch this weekend (go early, it can get very busy); it was worth the wait.

A recent drive north to Rockefeller State Park uncovered this wintry wonderland. Stunning views, crisp vignettes, and a sleeping lake.

Blog more.

Recent shooting events and vacation has tied up my time from posting anything here; some would say it’s lazy.

The Summer months have been busy indeed – and the Fall looks set to be very busy, too.

If I see another internet article about Steven Slater today I think I’ll implode.

I took this photograph on the night I shot Ricki and Dan’s wedding (love these guys) – I think I’ll hang it on my living room wall.

bbq + family + friends = win!

bbq No Comments

Again, the weather did not disappoint – another glorious Memorial Day Weekend. A three day break and warm weather means only one thing – barbecue, beer, baseball. ‘Tis the season for outdoor cooking, sizzling steaks, friends, and family.

owning > wishful thinking

lenses No Comments

Remember that little 70-200mm VRII I dreamed about back in January? I gave into my desires, held my breath, and swiped the card.

There are three letters that best describe my experiences with this new lens:

O
M
G

The first time I took this for a real-life run was about a week ago, and the picture quality floored me. There’s nothing better than knowing your A-game just got better.

victoria & shawn engagement shoot

city shoot, engagement, new york city No Comments

This past Sunday I had the honor of hanging out with soon-to-be-weds, Victoria and Shawn. We spent the better part of the morning shooting their engagement photos: Riverside Park, Hudson Park/Boat Basin, Dumbo, and the West Village – we had a blast; awesome guys to work with.

Here are some of my favorites:
