gearing up for april

Uncategorized No Comments

April is here, and it’s the season for shooting. I’m so excited for the shoots I have this month; three engagements and a wedding. For a while I’ve been worried about the weather – it’s been either raining or snowing for a month.

It’s 7:30am on Good Friday and I’m looking out of my living room window onto what is quite possibly the most beautiful day of 2010 so far. In a little over an hour I’m meeting up with my good friend Melanie Rose for coffee and a brainstorming session. I think partnering with another great photographer on studio projects, and even business referrals can only serve to help grow our business, while also giving our clients the best possible service.

Very excited about this month.

shooting pennsylvania

road trip No Comments

I’m heading out to Pennsylvania this coming weekend to visit an old friend, and I’ll be lugging one of my D700′s with me; likely passengers will be the Nikon 12-24 f2.8 and Nikon 24-70 f/2.8.  I absolutely love my 12-24 for architecture, and the 24-70 is perfect for those sharp street and portraiture shots I love to take.

I’ll be sure to post some shots from my trip on my return.  So excited to see my old bud.

early birthday gift

Uncategorized No Comments

lowepro pro roller x200Up until now I’ve been lugging my camera gear around in a variety of different bags and cases; not something that is going to be very practical given how busy I’m getting these days.

Today I got an early birthday present – the Lowepro Pro Roller x200. Of course I couldn’t wait to try this baby out – last night I packed every piece of photography equipment I own into the Pro Roller and it’s incredible.

A space for all of my lenses, flash equipment, batteries, cards, laptop (there’s a dedicated pocket for that), and much more.

I’m a happy camper photographer.

wishful thinking

You know when you come across that special something, and after looking at the price tag your heart slumps? Take a look at this behemoth – it’s the Nikon 70-200/2.8 VR II, and weighs in at around $2,400.

Do want.

greenpoint is my new playground

city shoot No Comments

There’s something very enticing about Brooklyn. Its cobble stoned streets, graffiti sprayed walls, and the grunge factor.  Instead of heading out to DUMBO (which I’m in love with), I figured I’d give Greenpoint some attention – and I’m so glad I did. Driving down West Street I noticed some desolate streets branching off towards the East River with clear and open access to the river’s edge, the Manhattan skyline filling the horizon.

Good time, new venue. I’ll be coming back.

sweet 16 coming up

sweet 16 No Comments

I must admit, I’m pretty excited to be shooting a “Sweet 16″ party in a couple of weeks.  New gear, new clients, this should be a spectacular night.

It had better be, her dad’s a cop.
